Is it in this product?  Am I breathing it?  What will happen?  How much is "safe" and "acceptable"?

As your stylists, of course we want to protect your health and ours.  We have been trained and educated on the keratin smoothing treatment, also known as "Brazilian Blowout," and have chosen our products based on safety first, and on their effectiveness.

In a recent test done by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) in the state of Oregon, 100 products from 50 different salons were tested for formaldehyde emmission during salon use.  Exposure to formaldehyde is considered safe at 2ppm (2 parts per million) per 15 minute exposure; .5ppm maximum during an 8-hour day.  See the table below for the emmissions test results.

Currently at Design 17 Salon, there are 2 stylists using keratin smoothing treatments: Allison and Janne.  Both stylists have very carefully chosen the safest, but effective, keratin smoothing treatments.
